Indian Masala Chai

Indian Masala Chai
Indian Masala Chai is a black tea brewed with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices. In Indian culture, 'Masala' means 'a blend of spices', and 'chai' simply means 'tea.' So, Masala Chai is literally 'spiced tea'. Masala Chai tea blend combines any type of black tea (we love using the brand PG Tips) with some fresh cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, star anise and ginger. Anytime you visit an indian friend or family you are greeted with masala chai and other indian snacks. Our family tradition is to make some delicious chai on a cool Sunday afternoon with our boys eating lunch and enjoying our time sipping chai.
  • 8 oz water
  • 4 oz almond milk
  • Raw organic sugar to taste
  • 2 teabags PG Tips brand or any other black teabag
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • small piece of cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 inch piece of fresh ginger

  2. Reduce heat to lowest setting and add teabags.
  3. Steep until tea takes on a deep, creamy-tan color, about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Strain into a cup and stir in sugar to taste. Enjoy!
